UPDATE: Skilling Australians Fund & Labour Market Testing
We have been advised overnight that the Migration Amendment (Skilling Australians Fund) Bill 2018, which was passed by Australian Parliament on 9 May 2018, is expected to be implemented during the first quarter of 2018/19, or, in other words, between July 2018 and October 2018.
As a reminder, the Skilling Australians Fund will replace the current Training Benchmarks and will be payable on all Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) (subclass 482) nominations, as well as all employer-sponsored applications for permanent residency.
The fees attached to the TSS (482) visa will be $1,200.00AUD and $1,800.00AUD per year nominated depending on the annual turnover of the company. Specifically, those company’s with an annual turnover of under $10 million will be charged the lower fee.
The fee for employer-sponsored migration (subclass 186/187) will be a set fee of $3,000.00AUD for employers with a turnover of under $10 million, and $5,000.00AUD for employers with a turnover of over $10 million.
These fees will be payable at time of lodgement of the nomination.
LABOUR MARKET TESTING
In addition to the above, the following changes will be made to Labour Market Testing requirements:
- All advertising must take place for a period of four weeks
- The advertising must take place no more than four months before the nomination is lodged
- Advertisements must set out any skills or experience requirements that are appropriate to the nominated position
