💡 The South Australia Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) is a formal agreement between the Australian Government, represent by the Department of Home Affairs and the South Australian Government, Department for Industry, Innovation and Science.

💭 The DAMAs enable South Australian employers to sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers for positions they are unable to fill with local workers, due to skills and labour shortages.

The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement has been replaced by a new Genuine Student (GS) requirement for Student Visa applications!

This new requirement came into effect for all Student Visa applications lodged on or after 23 March 2024. The requirement ensures that genuine international students benefit from a safe and supported study experience in Australia. This is assessed with a new set of questions that must be answered in the online Student Visa application form, which target the applicant's current circumstances and reasons for wanting to study in Australia.

Increased English Language Test Scores for Temporary Graduate Visas!

Migration (English Language Requirements for Subclass 476 (Skilled – Recognised Graduate) and Subclass 485 (Temporary Graduate) Visas) Instrument (LIN 24/021) 2024 increases the English language test scores applicable to a Temporary Graduate (sc 485) visa and reduces the period in which the scores must have been achieved from three years to one year before the day on which the visa application was made.

Closure of the WA General Skilled Migration (GSM)

Closure of the WA General Skilled Migration (GSM) Nomination Application for 2023-24!

The Western Australia Migration Services have announced that they will NOT be accepting any new General Skilled Migration applications for the 2023-24 program year as the number of available allocations has exceeded the available allocation.

Any existing applications that were lodged prior to 2 February 2024 will still be assessed under the existing eligibility criteria and those nominations will be issued subject to availability.

A number of eligible applications that have been lodged prior to the closure of the GSM nomination applications will not be considered as part of the 2023-24 program year. These applicants will be contacted and informed if this applies to their application.

The Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs has made the decision to continue the previous exemption process relating to visa condition 8547, from 1 January 2024, while consultation on the Working Holiday program settings and reform process is underway in line with the recently released Migration Strategy.

Our office will be closed over the Christmas period with our last day in office being Friday, 22 December to midday. We will return in office Monday, 15 January 2024 to continue providing the highest quality service and ensuring that all your visa dreams come true!

We will be monitoring all communication received from the Department of Home Affairs during this time to ensure no application is left unattended. Our emails will be checked periodically over our holiday break. However, unless there is urgency, we will not be responding until the New Year so that our hard working team can have a much needed rest.
