Temporary relaxation of work conditions – Students and Working Holiday Makers

In response to Australia’s current work shortages as a result of increasing positive Covid-19 numbers, the Australian Government has temporarily removed certain work limitations for both Students and Working Holiday Makers.

Student visa holders will now have no limit on their working hours across all States.  This change is effective immediately and will be reviewed in April 2022.

Working Holiday Makers will no longer be required to only work for 6 months with one employer.  This change is also effective immediately until the end of 2022.

The Australian Government has also provided an incentive for offshore Students and Working Holiday Makers to return to Australia to help address these workforce shortages.  Any Student or Working Holiday Maker visa holder who is currently offshore and travels to Australia between 19 January 2022 and 19 March 2022 will be eligible for a refund of their visa application charge.
