Processing Delays – Subclass 482 & Subclass 186 Applications

Processing Delays – Subclass 482 & Subclass 186 Applications

Delayed Processing Times – Subclass 482 & Subclass 186 Applications

Recent changes introduced in December have led to longer processing times for Subclass 482 and 186 visas. We understand that many applicants are eager for updates, and we appreciate your patience during this period.

Published Processing Times

Subclass 482 Visa

Applications lodged under the previous Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) 482 Visa program (before December 2024) are experiencing significant delays, with typical processing now taking around 6 months.

Subclass 186 Visa

Processing times for both the Direct Entry Stream and the Temporary Resident Transition Stream are currently ranging from 5 to 18 months.

  • Due to skilled visa processing priorities, only applicants whose work will be carried out in a designated regional are, or will be working in a healthcare or teaching occupation should anticipate a processing time of 5 to 12 months.

Applicants in all other areas and all other occupations should anticipate a processing time of 12 to 18 months.

Information from the Department

The timeframe for allocation and assessment of applications, including those considered government policy priorities, will vary depending on a range of factors such as the overall application lodgement rate, the total number of applications on-hand and the length of time required to perform necessary checks on supporting information.

The Department have noted that the time it takes to receive information from external agencies, such as health, character and national security requirements, is outside of their control.

Application Status & Updates

Applications remain in ‘lodged’ status until actively assessed, with no interim updates available. The Department does not provide updates on individual applications and will strictly not respond to any requests for such.

We understand how important these applications are to all our clients and assure that we will always notify you once we have any updates regarding your case!

Stay Informed

The Department have noted that, as they are finalising both new and older existing applications, the processing times may change each month.

We recommend regularly checking the Department’s website for the latest updates. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate these changes together!
