New COVID visa waiver – ‘offshore grant requirement’

New COVID visa waiver – ‘offshore grant requirement’

For most offshore visa’s, there is a requirement for the applicant to be outside of Australia at the time of grant. The Department has just announced that this requirement will be waived for certain family visa applicants. If you applied for one of the specified offshore visas and are in Australia at the time of grant because you are unable to travel offshore because of COVID, the department will allow the visa to be granted while you are in Australia.

The concession will apply to the following visa subclasses:

  • Child (subclass 101) visa
  • Adoption (subclass 102) visa
  • Dependent Child (subclass 445) visa
  • Prospective Marriage (subclass 300) visa
  • Partner (subclass 309) visa
