The good news for digital games engineers is that digital games skills has been added for Victorian visa nomination. The digital sector makes use of technology and innovation to drive economic growth, productivity and competitiveness in Victoria.
Applicants using their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills in a business precinct will be highly regarded.
Subclass 190 Visa
The Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190) is a permanent visa for skilled migrants with advanced talent currently working in Victoria using their STEM skills. You must receive nomination from Victoria before you can apply for the visa.
Victoria is now selecting digital games engineers for Victorian skilled nomination (Subclass 190). This is an addition to cyber security skills in the Digital target sector. Digital games engineers must have specialisation in coding, art direction, AI or physics programming. However, if you are using digital skills in a different target sector (e.g. software developer working in health), you may also be selected.
Who can apply for a Subclass 190 Visa?
To be eligible to apply for Victorian Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa nomination, you must:
• have had your Registration of Interest (ROI) selected
• live and work in Victoria
• work in a Victorian target sector using your STEMM skills
• be under 45 years of age
• have at least Competent English
• have a valid Skills Assessment
• have achieved at least 65 points
Subclass 491 Visa
The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 491) allows skilled migrants to live, study and work in designated regional areas for a period of 5 years. You must receive nomination from Victoria before you can apply for the visa.
For Subclass 491 visa nomination applications, the Digital sector remains open to all digital skills.
Who can apply for a Subclass 491 Visa?
To be eligible to apply for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 491), you must:
• be nominated to apply by a state or territory government agency, or an eligible relative must sponsor you
• have an occupation on a relevant skilled occupation list
• have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation
• be invited to apply
• satisfy the points test
